“A Thousand Stories”

14” x 11”, oil on canvas

With a twinkle in his eye this fellow can tell a thousand stories.  Some are true but most are highly embellished.

Decorating ones’ hat or bandana with trade items was common.  He wears silver trade jewelry in the form of the Cross of Lorraine and a double heart.  Reading glasses were also common.  Even tinted spectacles were available in the early 1800’s.
