"Arsata"

The word Arsata (pronounced ahr-sah-tah) is from the Mandan Indian language meaning big-horned animal.

This treatment of this piece was a departure for me as all my other work is traditional.  But I felt it needed to be more interpretive, so I decided to stylize the entire presentation.  I think the contemporary technique enhances the concept.

This piece features polished bronze, a unique patina on the horns and is based on a walnut pedestal.  The entire piece stands about 65" tall.

Arsata won top honors in the 1986 North American Sculpture Exhibition.
