Oil sketch on vellum paper

This is an oil sketch on vellum paper --- a technique I really enjoy.  The paper's  surface is slick and almost wax-like.  I lay down color then wipe it off leaving a nice textured stain reminiscent of stone lithography.  Great blends and soft edges can be achieved making  it a great medium for a subject such as this.  When the paint dries I sometimes add some pastel work.  I've done several pieces on vellum but the disadvantage is that they have to be framed behind glass --- just like a watercolor.  I really don't care for that so I don't do them for gallery sales.  This piece measured 12" x 16", and has no title.
