"Camp Of The Blackfeet"
24" x 48", oil Within the Indian culture, camp scenes are of great interest to me. The organization of the nomadic
plains Indian camp was quite remarkable. Each member of the band knew their role and responsibility. But no one played a more important role than the women. They dried meat, made clothing, cared for
the children, pitched the tipi, packed and moved the tipi, loaded and led the travois, dressed and tanned skins, etc., etc., etc. Their contribution to the tribe was nothing short of phenomenal. |
