Arsata, Bronze sculpture on walnut pedestal

"Arsata"

The word Arsata (pronounced ahr-sah-tah) is from the Mandan Indian language meaning big-horned animal.

This was a real departure for me as all my other work is traditional.  But I felt this piece needed to be more interpretive, so I decided to stylize the entire presentation.  I think the contemporary technique enhances the concept

This piece features polished bronze and a unique patina on the horns.  It's based on a walnut pedestal and stands about 65" tall.

Arsata won top honors in the 1986 North American Sculpture Exhibition.
